THE CHURCH GATHERS

THE CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Jan Kwiatkowski, M.S., M.F.T.

Minister: Our Lord, you have blessed this land; you show us your love.
People: We listen to you, Lord God, because you promise peace to those who are faithful.
Minister: You are ready to rescue everyone who worships you, so that you will live with us in all of your glory.
People: Lord, in you love and loyalty will come together; goodness and peace will unite.
Minister: Our Lord, bless us. Based upon Psalm 85

*HYMN 422 Lead Us, O Father

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

God, we know you will come to us and give us what is good. Let your glory fill our hearts so that it will yield an increase of love for you. Speak peace to us, we who are your faithful people, and to all who yearn for you. Help us to be willing to do as you ask, that we may rejoice to be children of the living God. For we know that as we ask, it will be given and as we knock, the door will be opened to us. Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

THE INVITATION TO THE TABLE and PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Minister: St Paul’s reminder to the people of Colossae holds true for us today: that many false teachings at work in the world may tempt us away from God with fascinating philosophies and empty deceits.

[We are called to reflect on what may keep us from loving and serving in holiness of life and then we pray:]

People: Our hearts are full when we remember that God made us alive with Christ. We ask for forgiveness for all our sins: for what we have done and for what we have failed to do. Lord, we recall that Paul tells us that God set our sin aside, nailed it to the cross. We rejoice together in the company of the risen Christ.

[The Minister reminds us of God's pardon.]

Minister: There are no sins so great that the mercy of God cannot forgive. Go with God's grace to make amends by embracing lifestyles that will help restore balance and harmony between yourself and God, and between yourself and your neighbor, and within yourself, so that you may stand upright before God. Amen.

[The Minister proceeds.]

THE COMMUNION OF ALL

THE PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Minister: Let us pray. Almighty and ever living God, we most heartily thank you for feeding us in these holy mysteries with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. We pray that you assure us of your favor and goodness towards us. We, Lord, are incorporated in the mystical body of your Son. May we also be heirs, through hope, of your everlasting kingdom.

People: We humbly pray to you, O heavenly Father, to assist us in and with your grace that we may continue in holy fellowship. May we serve our neighbors, wherever they may be, and however we may find them, in your Holy Name. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.

THE CHURCH IS SENT FORTH TO LOVE AND SERVE

*HYMN 412 The Lord’s Prayer

*THE CHARGE

In the hallowed name of God, let us go out with prayer and thanksgiving. God calls us out into a world that is sorely in need of both. Daily let us offer to the earth and its people the fullness of God’s joy, justice and peace that we have in Christ.
