*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
[Let us pray in unison the prayer following Hymn 302, followed by the Lord’s Prayer:]

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

THE CHURCH HEARS THE WORD

THE INVITATION TO CHILDREN’S SUNDAY ACTIVITIES

THE PSALMODY Psalm 30 [NRSV]

Lectern Side: I will extol you, OLord, for you have drawn me up,
and did not let my foes rejoice over me.
OLord my God, I cried to you for help
and you have healed me.

Pulpit Side: OLord, you brought up my soul from Sheol,
restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.
Sing praises to the Lord, Oyou his faithful ones,
and give thanks to his holy name.

Lectern Side: For his anger is but for a moment;
his favour is for a lifetime.
Weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

Pulpit Side: As for me, I said in my prosperity,
‘I shall never be moved.’
By your favour, OLord,
you had established me as a strong mountain;
you hid your face;

Lectern Side: I was dismayed.
To you, OLord, I cried,
and to the Lord I made supplication:

Pulpit Side: ‘What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the Pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
Hear, OLord, and be gracious to me!

Lectern Side: OLord, be my helper!’
You have turned my mourning into dancing;
you have taken off my sackcloth
and clothed me with joy,
so that my soul may praise you and not be silent.

ALL: OLord my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.

THE INVITATION TO THE TABLE and PRAYER OF CONFESSION

[After the Minister invites us to the Table, we are called to reflect on what may keep us from loving and serving in holiness of life - and then we pray:]

Have mercy on me, OGod, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. -Psalm 51:1-2 [NRSV]

[The Minister reminds and assures us of God's pardon.]

Let us recall the words of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 26:27-28 which Jesus told us at the Last Supper: "While they were eating, Jesus took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

Minister: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Minister: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Minister: Let us give thanks to our Lord God.
People: It is right so to do.

[The Minister proceeds: ‘…Therefore we laud and magnify your glorious Name, evermore praising thee, and saying:’]

ALL: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts:
Heaven and earth are full of thy glory.
Glory be to thee, O Lord Most High.

[The Minister continues the Great Thanksgiving Prayer.]

THE COMMUNION OF ALL

THE PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Minister: Let us pray.

ALL: Almighty and ever living God, we most heartily thank you for feeding us in these holy mysteries with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. We pray that you assure us of your favor and goodness towards us. We, Lord, are incorporated in the mystical body of your Son. May we also be heirs, through hope, of your everlasting kingdom. We humbly pray to you, O heavenly Father, to assist us in and with your grace, that we may continue in holy fellowship. May we serve our neighbors, wherever they may be, and however we may find them, in your Holy Name. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.
